BrightSign App Introduction

BrightSign App Icon.png

For iOS devices (iPad/iPhone)

The BrightSign App for iPad and iPhone allows you to broadcast commands to BrightSign players over your local network using UDP (User Datagram Protocol) packets. The app automatically retrieves UDP events in BrightAuthor presentations that are currently active on the network, allowing you to access and activate them using a straightforward UI. You can also use the App to modify User Variables and create new UDP commands on the fly.

Note: The BrightSign App is compatible with all networked BrightSign players.

Im trying to make use of the app and it doesn't seem to find the players even if they have a static ip (is there anything else that needs to be done during setup of the players?) I checked the app store and there doesn't seem to be any links to documentation/user guide.

The user guide should be posted today. I'll send you it via email. When you setup the player, you need to have a presentation listening for udp events. If you want to be able to use the diag server, then you have to turn that on in the setup files for the unit. And, if you want to be able to change user variables through the app, you also have to turn on the local webserver as well in the setup window.  See attached image.

One question: in the product page/features it is listed "password for security"..  to what are you referring to? LocalWevServer/DWS passwords?

About LocalWebServer and DWS web server.. I don't find any option in the APP where to input it.. also in the Guide there is no mention about the password ..

    Could you pls clarify?

    Thanks

We are currently working on the password-protection issue with the App. We'll post here when it is resolved.

Can you explain the password protection issue please ?. Is this why I still have an open case with you on this topic for iPhone and iPad's?

Chris, enabling a password for the Diagnostic Web Server prevents you from accessing it from the App. However, you can still send UDP commands to the player and change User Variables. You can still access the password-protected DWS through a standard web browser.

Roni, you don't need a BrightSign Network account to use the App. You can use any publishing method you want (standalone, simple file network, local file network). The only prerequisites are that your BrightSign players have Ethernet/wireless access to the local network and your iOS device is connected to the same local network.

Is there or will there be any way to modify the app layout? I have lots of buttons and it would be nice if I could spread them over the screen rather then have to scroll up and down the side. I don't need a whole screen space for variables. Thank you

    Hello,

I have a project where I had two user variables.  It was working great (iOS App & BrightSign), then I changed the names of the variables within BrightAutor and re-published to the device.

After doing that the iOS App retained the old names of the Variables and added the two new names for the variables.  I cannot figure out how to update the app so that it only shows the two variables in my project.  I've tried closing and retsarting the app, restarting the brightsign, but this did not help.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

to delete old variables you must save the project with a different name.
