Can BrightSign players send IR commands with BrightAuthor:connected?

Yes. All newer models including the XTx43, 4Kx42, XDx33, XDx32, and XDx30 models have a 3.5 mm blaster jack that can send IR commands using BrightAuthor:connected. BrightAuthor:connected supports sending NEC formatted integer values and Pronto formatted IR codes.

Note: NEC formatted integer values and Pronto formatted IR codes are available on sites like www.remotecentral.com. They are also available from your TV or device manufacturer. 

IR Blaster

Any IR blaster with a 3.5 mm stereo is compatible with BrightSign players. 

This IR blaster has been tested and proven to work with newer BrightSign models and the BrightSign models listed above. 

How to set up IR commands for an event state: 

1. IR commands are created by adding a command to an event or state in an Interactive presentation. 

2. Select the event that the IR command will effect. 

3. Go to Event Properties > Advanced

4. Click Add Command to add a command. 

5. Set the Command to Send

5. Use Command Parameters > Send IR Remote for NEC commands. Use Command Parameters > Send IR Remote (Pronto) for Pronto Hex commands.

How to set up IR commands for a media state:

1. IR commands are created by adding a command to an event or state in an Interactive presentation. 

2. Select the state that the IR command will effect. 

3. Go to State Properties > Advanced

4. Click the "+" to the right of Entry Commands or Exit Commands to add a command. 

5. Set the Command to Send

5. Use Parameters > Send IR Remote for NEC commands. Use Parameters > Send IR Remote (Pronto) for Pronto Hex commands.

Pronto IR Codes 

When using Pronto-formatted IR codes, you may get a "pulse too long" error in the system log, and the code will fail to work. To fix this issue, change the last four characters of the IR code to all zeros. Below is a "power on" command before and after the change.
