Solution for ad expiring

We're running a signage network with 20+ types of display configurations. Playlist creation and publishing is a very time consuming process and we're looking to improve.

Most of the content is client ads which have a start date and a expiration date. Is there a way to automatically utilise these dates and create presentation that changes the ads over time? All the other signage-systems I've used have this feature.

Currently we are either manually adding and removing the ads from the presentations or scheduling them via BrightSign Network. Both methods are tedious and time consuming and especially the latter results in hundreds of presentations created.

Thanks,

-Olli

    Olli,

BrightSign Network, under the Create tab, offers Live Media, and Dynamic Playlist, which should provide the functionality that you are looking for.

Each media file can be scheduled individually. See screen shot below.

Combined with tags that BrightSign introduced recently, you may be able to have a single playlist for all your signs. Assuming all ads have the same frame size...

    I hope that helped.

    Hi Udi,

Thank you! We weren't aware of this feature (as we are using BrightAuthor app exclusively) and this is exactly what we've been looking for.

We are in fact running multiple frame sizes and synchronised arrays, but I understand that these are special cases. Any way, this will help our scheduling tremendously. We'll also look into taking advantage of the tagging feature.

    Thanks again for your help.

Notice that time is in UTC and not local time.

I'm Glad to know that I could be of help.

    Hi Udi,

I was wondering if this functionality is available on the XD1132 unit.

    I don't see why not.

Are you having any difficulty setting it up?

Please make sure that you are running the most recent firmware for the XD1132.

Thank you for the quick reply Olli,  I'll definitely be considering Brightsign Network as a solution.

I found that use of Brightsign Network is very effective, when one or more of the following is true:

    • Content management needs to be delegated.
    • Multiple players are managed.
    • Remote content management is prefered.
    • Access to MS Windows is limited.

    One last question,

How did you bring up that Item Options menu in the above screenshot?

Thanks again for your informative replies!

The items inside BSN Dynamic Playlist, Live Data, and Live Media feeds, have a button that looks like a clock.

Click the clock button, to open the timing options.

Remember: time is in UTC, and not your local time.
