Audio 5.1

Hi,

Can new BrightSign models only output 5.1 audio over HDMI?

I have an old receiver that accepts S/PDIF audio or discrete inputs.

Thanks.

The (Series 3) units with 3.5mm audio jacks support traditional stereo analog 3.5mm plugs and Mini Toslink plugs which are optical (same as signal as the old square dedicated Toslink, just a different connector).

If your stereo has an optical input, you can get a Toslink to Mini Toslink cable or adapter.  If your stereo needs coax SPDIF, you'll need an optical to coax converter.

I think you'll find that they have sp/dif on the 3.5mm audio jack. It can be configured for analogue or digital and received by the coxial input on your amplifier.

Its in the hardware documentation on this website somewhere.
