Hi guys
We have bought a LS423, but I noticed too late, that it is NOT supported with the RS232 serial port feature!! How do I then power my videoprojector ON or OFF? Can I do this from the ethernet port. I see that the projector has an ethernet connection. With UDP commands.
How do I do that??

Questions you need to answer: What functions on the projector can be controlled by UDP? Are the UDP commands preset for the projector? What software port does the projector expect to see the commands?
At any rate, you can have a BrightSign player send UDP commands via the Ethernet connection as long as the player and projector are on the same subnet.
1. Build a Presentation in BrightAuthor.
2. Click File - Presentation Properties - Interactive. Set the UDP Destination port to what the projector expects. Also set the UDP Destination address (255.255.255.255) for everything on the subnet to see it. I have also used a Multicast IP here to jump to another subnet.
3. Attach UDP commands to one of the assets in your Presentation. Double click the asset, select the Advanced tab, then select Send - UDP.
If you feel more comfortable with RS232, you could use a USB C to RS232 adapter like this one:
I cannot guarantee that it would work with that particular model, as we have never tested it.

I have been struggling a lot with it. But I don't think it is as simple as told in the tutorials. According to these videos it is almost Plug and Play....
My Panasonic PT-VW430 projector uses PJlink for controlling, but don't understand UDP commands but only TCP. I have seen it been discussed a lot and there have been made some scripts to get along with the problem. I think it is too complicated if You do not know (yet) how to make scripts.
Now I have ordered a USB-C to RS-232 adapter, then I will see if this works.
My "prayer" to the Brightsign team is: Implement a better understanding of how to control external units, because that is very essential to be able to do so, You can't yet expect all users to be nerds, and thereby writing there own scripts. I think the forums are great, and the tutorials too, but I have used a days work to try to solve the problem, without any luck, and my boss is not especially pleased :-D ...do I understand him? I think yes....
That's all for now, I will return back if something goes wrong with the adapter
