Can we set TakeSnapshot interval to less than 1 minute?

Currently the player takes snapshot every 60 seconds.

Can we set TakeSnapshot interval to less than 1 minute?

I'm also interested in knowing this. 1 minute is not nearly granular enough for me to verify proper operation of my display.

I was wondering about that myself for a long time, so I figured trying interval of 10 seconds would be interesting.

10 seconds would be 1 min divided by 6. 60sec/6 = 10 seconds. In minutes that would be 1/6=0.166666....

Rounding that up to 0.17 should work.

Using the snapshots settings in the Diagnostics Web Server, for a player on the local network seems to work.

Funny thing is that when going back to check the settings, it shows 0.16666666...

Have yet to try that during a player setup though, so please experiment and share your experience.

I ussually set it up at the DWS with 0.,1 minutes and works fine for me.

It shows me an snapshot each 6 seconds.

FYI, it is not recommended to write snapshots this frequently, especially to USB flash drives or SD cards as the constant writing will wear out the device quickly.

Using SSD would give a longer lifespan, but it would still wear out quicker than expected because of the constant writing.

For more information SD card considerations see http://docs.brightsign.biz/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=985106

Even better would be the ability to remotely view a BrightSign unit so you could see what is occurring on the display. Typically I use the snapshot feature for troubleshooting, but if I'm only getting an image every minute, we can't really see an issue with a specific ad that only shows for a few seconds.

Is support for VNC or something like that ever in the cards?

The snapshot feature isn't well suited to verifying issues with an ad spot.  We always have a player in the lab setup to imitate the players at customer sites so we can see for ourselves.

Good point. Why would BrightSign add a feature that merely would reduce the need for you to buy an extra copy of each product that will virtually never be used?

We've found that we need to have an extra one on my desk so that I can test my content carefully before launching. Especially since the web browser has some quirks that I have to work around. Having VNC would be super handy for those instances where you want to interact with a BrightSign that has no means of plugging in a mouse and keyboard, though... otherwise something as simple as refreshing a webpage is very cumbersome.
