Strange Logo Problem

Hi, I'm running 1.1.28 on an HD600, with a very simple video autoplay loop script. It boots to the correct videomode and plays the correct video, but the roku 1.1.28 logo will not go away... It stays up forever.

Is there something I can add to my script that I'm missing to correct this issue? I need help ASAP! I'm supposed to have this ready to go by 7am EDT (13 hrs from now.) :eek!

Please help, and thanks in advance!

I've never heard of this problem with the hd600 where the logo stays even when content is playing. Has this unit worked properly before? Have you tried reisntalling the firmware on the HD600? Does it matter which video output you are using?

Let me try reinstalling the firmware and get back to you. We've not previously used this unit in production before, so I can't definitively say whether it's worked properly or not in the past. I'll try other video modes as well. Stand by!

Reinstalled 1.1.28, commented out the video mode line of the autorun.bas file. Switched through all the video outputs and each one had the logo well into the playback of the media. Could not verify the VGA output (monitor only has video (component/composite) in.). But 1280x720x60p, 640x480, and NTSC all showed the logo.

Should this script execute as is with the other firmware you sent me Lyndon? I'll try updating to that and see if this corrects the issue.

Can you send me a screenshot of what's you're seeing? Also, is it the Roku logo plus firmware version that you see or only the logo?

It's the Roku Logo and underneath it says, "v1.1.28" ... I took a look at the video file, it might be the absence of sound at the beginning that's causing the problem. So I added in some fake audio and re-encoded.

With the beta firmware, nothing happened. It didn't play the video it just sat at on a black screen saying, "Roku/BrightSign HD600/solid state media player/ v 1.3.12"  Since no video came up, it prompted me to check the encoding. The new version just completed, let me load it up and see what happens. I'll reload 1.1.28 and take a picture in just a sec if this doesn't fix the issue.

    Update:

Just tried the same script on a New In Box HD600 we had on the shelf. It was running 1.1.28 and we get the same problem. This makes me think it's something in the script? or in the video encode. You've seen my script, now I'll show you my encoding settings...

I'm about to test this but can you try adding a wait statement at the end of your script.

    wait(0,p)

    wait(0,p)

I've gone home for the evening, but I'll try it at my earliest convenience in the morning, (7am, EDT).

    Thanks,

As Lyndon spotted, the problem is that the script is finishing and so the HD600 continues on and displays the splash screen.

Adding the following lines to the end of the script stops this:

    loop:

    wait(0,p)

    goto loop

This basically loops handling all messages from the video player and so the script no longer exits.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks!
