BrightSign Life Expectancy

I'm new to the BrightSign boards, hello.

I recently purchased a BrightSign HD600 and am planning on using it in a permanent installation. I was wondering if anyone knows what the general life expectancy of one of these players are.

I'm planning on using it to read a playlist in a random order and play back .mpg video. Nothing too complex.

Thanks!

Dustin

The players are pretty reliable. They have no moving parts and the sd card slot is pretty long lasting (esp., compared to compact flash pin connectors). We've had an HD 600 play for weeks at a time 24/7 for almost 1 year with no problems.

The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to give a relatively solid statement as to how long they last.  I understand that things go wrong, but what is the weakest link and how long does that usually work for?  I'd like to say, these are good for around 8,000 hours, or something like that.

The MTBF for the units is at least 10 years. I'll double check the exact figure, but I I believe it was closer to 20 years.

That's what I was looking for!  Plus 10-20 years sounds so much better!  If you can give me the exact number that would be cool.  I don't know what an MTFB is but, hey, Mean Time Between Failures (as opposed to the Mean Time To Failure).  Learn something new everyday.
