Are you keeping track of the requests now? If so add me! Even Digital signage has a Mac Version and it is free. It doesn´t have to be pretty, it just needs to work, please hear the people!

I agree. A web app would make the most sense, but something has to happen outside of the Windows only application.

I'm adding my voice to those over the past (nearly) three years who have indicated their need/desire for either a Mac version or a web app. Running BA on Mac via VMWare Fusion has been a bit like tying one hand behind my back.

I also would like a Mac version of the app. I have a pc laptop that I lug with me for the sole purpose of working in BrightAuthor. I'd prefer it if I could get rid of it and only use my macbook.

    Yes, please!

Another vote from us. Makes perfect sense as I too junked the last remaining P(oorly)C(onstructed) machine that was in our studio last year and now have to install Parallels VM to begin work. From what I read on here that has its problems too.

Bring on the Cloud or Mac downloadable version SOON please. Even for us just to apply a simple video loop script.

I tried to download a sample script/autoplay but that doesn't work. We have to provide a movie loop for a show in June and now I need to do this painful workaround just to test the units!

I can't even get into them to update firmware or anything without Windows, is that right?

    Thank you.

     Leigh Smith,

You can't run BrightAuthor on Mac.

If you use our hosted BrightSign network service to manage the BrightSign units remotely, you could create the full screen projects in your web browser and publish them to the players. You just need to run BrightAuthor when you want to add the unit to your BrightSign network account. Once the unit is added to account, you can manage the units from a web browser and update firmware remotely.

If a diagnostic web server is enabled on the player, you can upload the firmware file to SD card, and reboot the player remotely using a web browser.

I also need a OSX version of BA.  Our church/school just installed numerous displays around the facility and having no control from my macbook is killing me!

BA on mac, it's the first of the top 5 topics. Doesn't that also push it on top of your priority-list?

Here's another request for Mac. The truth is that in order for me to run this on my Mac it's not just installing Parallels, it's also buying a copy of Windows AND a security suite all for one step to get the campaigns live! Of your 'Top 5 Forum Topics' list Mac availability is number 1, so how can you say there are more requested items? It's inconceivable to me as a designer and franchisor with 15 units in 2 states how you can not offer a Mac version. Since a Mac version is obviously not a priority on your end, would you at least tell us if we can use Plex as our server to run these Brightsign components? If so, that may be a solution (I ask because you can do that on Roku and since you have an affiliation with them, I can't see why you couldn't).

I spoke with a gentleman from brightsign at Infocomm and from that conversation they have NO plan to do the mac version. My expectation was that with the iOS app they may be on the way to some more mac development but I am certainly less hopeful after that conversation.

Hello Brightsigns people...  One more vote from me for a MAC version of BrightAuthor. C'mon, spend some of your hard earned profits to make it happen... before someone else steals us Mac users to another system...

3 years later and still no mac support?  I was planning on buying 12 units for our facility until I saw this thread.  Can anyone recommend an alternative mac-native product?

Unless someone hacks the first Apple TV to do this job better and with style, us creative industries have to fiddle with a WINDOWS malware serving a LINUX player (!). So even the Brightsign player's Linux OS is closer to Mac OS X than anything else. In my opinion Brightsign was sold to Microsoft earlier and so no one reads this thread anymore.

We are looking at this product and I am glad I found this thread.  As a mac-based office, there seem to be a lot of problems for others.  :-(

I'm a Mac user and I wanted to use BrightSign players to play multiple channels of video in a continuous loop.

It's not obvious, but you can do things like that with a simple text file. (You don't need BrightAuthor at all.) I wrote a complete guide on my website with downloadable scripts that you can use. It's easy. Hope it helps somebody.

Agreed.  BA for mac please!  I'm not getting all I should out of BrightSign because no one here has a pc.
