Hi, I have a 210 and all it is doing is showing 2 jpgs that fade into each other. That's all it's doing. I used BrightAuthor to create the presentation and I am just using an SD card to update when I need to (no networking involved.) I had tested the unit here in my shop for a few days and it ran 24/7 with no problems at all. I installed the unit 3 days ago and every day since it has been installed the screen will go black and stay that way until the 210 is unplugged and plugged back in. I can't bother my customer to have to do this every day. It it happens at different times of day every day so I can't figure out a pattern. Can anyone tell me what the first step of figuring out what is wrong? I assume that it's something that I did I just don't know how to check it.

    I haven't heard of something like this before. If you power up the unit, but turn off the display, and then back on, does the display go blank? How is the brightsign connected to the display? What resolution is the brightsign set to? How long does it take for this to happen after you power it up?

    You mentioned you use the SD cards to update the content. Are you removing the SD cards after the unit boots up?

    You need to leave the card in the slot, especially if the files are large, so that if the HD210 needs to reload the file, it can see it. If the card is removed and the machine needs it, playback will stop on a black screen, or the BrightSign logo.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
    @Lyndon, I have tested turning on and off the display while the 210 is running about a half a dozen times and it does not interrupt the presentation at all. I have the 210 connected to the display using an HDMI cable. The resolution of the 210 is set to 1360x768x60p which is the native resolution of the display. The timing on the black screen in inconsistent, has been at different times each occurrence.

    @CedarPark, I always shut the unit down when removing the SD card.

    As of this moment everything had been running smooth for 24hours which is the longest it has lasted yet. The only thing that I have done different is Re-Publish the exact presentation to a new SD card. Could it have been an SD card failure? Seems unlikely.

    If you are just playing two images then both would easily fit into the cache on the unit so it wouldn't need to read from the card again once it played through once.

    This doesn't make any sense that it would randomly lose signal. If you're using HDMI you can try a different hdmi cable, possibly a shorter cable, or you can try the same resolution over vga.

    WE could also enable logging in the script running on the card so we could at least see if the player is stopping playback, or if it plays fine but the display is what's at fault.

    After observing this thing over the weekend I have discovered 2 things. Turns out the display does turn off at the same time every day. At approximatly 8:15am the TV shuts off. When the TV is turned back on it is displaying the proper images and everything is well with the world.

    There seems to be no good reason that the TV should be shutting down on it's own. Could the 210 be sending a signal through the HDMI? Sounds to me like the TV is a bit buggy.

    That almosts sounds like it's scheduled. Is it possible the display is set to go into standby at a certain time? What model and brand sisplay is it?

    It's an LG something or other....If you NEED to know the exact model I can track it down.

    I actually have the TV turning it's self on at 6:00am and then turning it's self off at 6:00pm so I know that it is not the TV auto on/off because I am using that at a different time.

    Yes, I would like to know what model tv it is. And, if you know what firmware it's running,that's helpful too.

    Ok I finally got all the info together on this one.

    TV model is LG 37LH20 37 LCD HDTV
    720 p 1366x768 30000:1
    Dynamic, 5ms, 2x HDMI   this is everything on the box.

    The presentation on this one is very simple, just 2 slides repeating over and over. Everyday at around 8:30am the display will change from the presentation and it will display the BrightSign logo. Then the TV will shut its self off. By the time the TV is turned back on it is displaying the presentation again.

    So why is the HD210 rebooting its self everyday at 8:30 and when it reboots why does it shut off the TV?

    Today out of the blue the display will just show the BrightSign logo and nothing else. I will be trying a new memory card tomorrow to see if I can get it to work again but I do not know why this is having so many problems.

    I have 4 other HD210's at another location that have been running much more complicated presentations flawlessly for months. This one is a daily problem for my customer. Any and all advice will be very appreciated on this one.

    What version of brightauthor was this published with? Can you send me the complete published project and I'll run it on my HD210.

    We can also open the autorun.brs file on the flash card and turn on debug and logging, by setting both to true. That should create a log.txt file on the card to show us where it's failing.

    Where do I sent the presentation to? There are not many files and they are not very big so emailing it should not be a problem.

    I am sending it now.

    There is no reason that I can't try it in BA 2.0. I just thought that 2.0 was still in beta and not available. I'll try to find it and download it.
