Clock and transparent backrgound on images

I have placed the clock on top of the lower third of my video zone, clock being in its own zone. 100% transparent is set on the clock I can see the time display over my videos when played correctly. Clock background is 100% transparent. But when the presentation switches to a image zone to display between the video plays, the transparency of the clock is not active. The clock is shown in a black background over the image.png file displayed. not what I wanted It this due to my laying one zone on top of another or a bug with the clock and a image zone? using 210w with Beta 3.3.78 BA 2.2.0.28

overlaying zones works differently for images than videos.  The transparency settings for text zone and the clock don't work over images. One think you can do is convert your images to videos, and use those instead.

I'm including a link to an ffmpeg file plus a batch filethat will convert all images in a folder to a 1 second video of the same name. Your image names can't have spaces in them.

    Hi RokuLyndon.

You mean that transparency between images is not supported yet ? As I am having troubles with a logo (transparent PNG) when overlaps an image that is being played, it works just fine when the logo overlaps a video.

    Thanks.

Correct, no transparency when overlaying images. I don't know if or when this functionality will be supported.

Any news on this topic? Will it be possible to have transparency when overlaying images? And will there be a possibility to give layers a specific position in z-axis, so that some layers will always stay on top?

You can set a clock to match the background color of an image, but it's not transparent when you put a clock over an image zone.

Clock is only transparent over videos.

If you remove the main green zone and replace it with a background only zone, the clock zone above the background image zone is transparent, but the background zone is static. So, the only way to change it would be to publish or schedule a different project to play.

I have to agree with Stefan, it would be nice if transparencies and a added Z-Axis setting would work for zone images, time, date,  and text.

It seems odd that it would be easy to do transparency over video with ever changing pixels, but hard for a static image with no changing pixels?

Thank you for the information. Transparency and z-axis setting would really be a nice feature. That's the most limiting factor I see at the time. It makes creating visually pleasing presentation difficult and makes a lot of client wishes impossible. Would love to see that in a future version.

That functionality with zaxis is coming to brightauthor, most likely in the fall. It might not be supported on all hardware, but we'll have to wait and see.

There's already some zaxis support at the script level with the new widgets for playback images and text, roCanvas.

Chiming in on wanting to be able to do a transparent clock over images.  Requiring all media to be a movie is a real pain, but client wants a real time clock on their signs.

    It's on our todo list.

Any guess of when?  Just wondering how to deal with the clock for a project opening in the next couple of months.

I cannot set my clock background to be transparent when overlapping a "Video or Images" zone. I read that it would work in a Video only zone, but is there a reason it doesn't work on Image zones. It just makes no sense to me. Is this something that will be available in the near future? Thanks.

Thomas, please send your presentation file (the .bpf file). What firmware version is installed on your unit? Power up the unit without sd card - firmware version will be shown on the screen.

Currently, you can't layer one image zone over another image zone. There's no z-ordering supported. That functionality will be coming to the xd platform, but it's not available.  There are some objects in which this isn't true. For example, inside a livetext object, you can put one image over another, inside that object.  You can put a solid image behind the clock.

ANd, if you're using a background image zone, which uses up one of the video options, you can put an image zone over a background image zone.

But, you can't put one image zone over another image zone currently. It's not supported.

Any updates on being able to put an image zone over another image zone with transparency features?

Currently, still just image over video, for transparency, or html over video. Video over video is supported without transparency. To get the effect you'd want, currently, have to do it all in html.

Any updates? Seems like this shouldn't be a problem for over five years...kinda absurd

This is still the same. The clock zone's transparency doesn't apply over an image zone. It will over a background image zone, but not a standard one. If the project were all done in html, then that wouldn't be a problem. You can also replace the intermediate content with videos instead of image.
