MRSS Syntax. . .

Hello,

Can you post the Bright Sign required elements / structure of an MRSS.xml file. Currently, I am using the following as part of a client / server based system the updates the "image file name" of the MRSS.xml file everytime the Bright Sign requests an image file. What other MRSS options are available?

MRSS.XML File:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<rss version="2.0" xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" >

Thank you,

    I don't have an answer to that question....I'll try and get it. I can post some sample mrss feeds that do work, and maybe that will be helpful. Here's a feed from framechannel.

    Are there any plans to write a minimum requirements guide for MRSS parsing?

    I'll check into that. I can post some other minimal samples if that would help. here's a simple example. In testing, we found that

    Interesting, I wasn't aware that the ability to use video in the MRSS files was possible yet.  I thought only still images were supported.  I will have to produce a few videos and glue them into an MRSS for testing.

    PS I have two MRSS's in out in the wild if people want something basic to test with, also particularly with regard to rotated images:
    Normal: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://webcams.southernct.edu/rss/">http://webcams.southernct.edu/rss/</a><!-- m -->
    CCW 90 Degrees: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://webcams.southernct.edu/rss-ccw/">http://webcams.southernct.edu/rss-ccw/</a><!-- m -->

    I have tested MRSS with MP4 and MOV files over the last couple days, it works as expected once you get the right syntax.  Very cool.  Now if only BrightSign could parse more of the MRSS feeds that are already available from other sources (such as our local news station).

    Also note that MP4 files must use the "video/mpeg" mimetype rather than the proper "video/mp4" mimetype that the RFC specifies.

    The MRSS spec. can be found here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rssboard.org/media-rss">http://www.rssboard.org/media-rss</a><!-- m -->.

    Walter,

    If you can send me some more examples of mrss that fail, we can check them and work on getting better support added.

    Alex, please see this FAQ:

    http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/20610996-What-kinds-of-Media-RSS-feeds-can-I-use-in-BrightAuthor-

    The info on how to add a media rss feed to a BrightAuthor presentation is covered on page 34 in BrightAuthor user guide (attached below).

    I often check my Media RSS feed syntax with W3's validator:

    http://validator.w3.org/feed/

    I also posted this a while back:

    http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/21670947-MRSS-image-caching-demystified

    It explains a bit on how to use the guid isPermaLink to help with the caching issues. If you make a change to an image file, but use the same name, the BrightSign players were not updating the image, and instead using the cached version. You can use the "guid" element in the MRSS to help let the player know that there is a new version, even if the filename is exactly the same.

    I hope that helps some.

    Please uninstall BA3.7 and use version 3.5.0.36. I'm including a link to installer:

    https://www.brightsignnetwork.com/download/BrightAuthor/setup.3.5.0.36.exe

    Hello,

    I'm trying to read an instagram feed on my XD² 232 unit. I used this RSS link but it doesn't work : https://www.instagram.com/tags/stereolux/feed/recent.rss

    I guess this solution is outdated ? Is there a way to read an Instagram RSS feed now ?

    (I also tried to reed a Flickr RSS feed and it worked just fine, I guess the problem comes from Instagram)

    Thanks

    So you can sleep better at night, you may want to use a service like Screenfeed

    http://www.screenfeed.com/content/social-apps

    You pay a few buck every month, and they watch your back, so your feed is kept alive.
