Rotate Live Video

Hello,

I am using the XD1230 model with latest beta Firmware. (Same for the authoring software)

My goal is to present a live video stream coming from an iPad. The video stream should be floating above a specified background image.

The iPad is connected via HDMI and runs an app in landscape mode. (landscape only!)

The monitor I am using will be mounted in portrait mode.

Alignment:

- Monitor in portrait

- iPad signal landscape, but presented in portrait

Therefor I need to rotate the signal with the XD1230.

Is this still only possible in html or are there different ways to accomplish my goal?

Best regards!

    Hi,

It will be possible with the upcoming firmware version (4.7.100 or newer) and using html only.

    Hello,

    that is great to hear.
Is there an ETA for this improvement?

Are there any possibilities for me to deliver this feature with the latest beta software?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with an ETA yet, but I would expect the necessary FW and software for this feature to be available within the next 2 months at the most.

    Hello,

I updated my beta firmware version to 4.7.106.

Still I have issues to get my HDMI Input signal to display as i shloud be. I followed the instructions provided in the HTML5 guide to input the HDMI signal.

My problem now is that I get a white only image instead of the HDMI Input feed.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

What changes to the HTML would need to be made in order to rotate RF input?

    Thank you

Sorry, found it in the HTML 5 User Guide page 8.

    FYI:

"RF Input: You must input the video source using the following URI: “tv:brightsign.biz/vc/n”, where “n” is the virtual channel number attained via channel scan. Note that you cannot substitute another host URL for “brightsign.biz”. Before initializing a <video> element with RF input, you must perform a channel scan to initialize the virtual channel database in the registry.
    <video width="320" height="240" source src="tv:brightsign.biz/vc/23.1">

    "

Starting with fw 4.8.x, you'll be able to rotate videos on the xd players using a plugin, until the feature is available in brightauthor.

Being able to rotate video would be of great improvement for our client's experience, who has digital signage  in portrait orientation. They currently have to rotate their video content in post production.

    More good stuff from BrightSign!

Our latest beta firmware 4.8.88 has a video rotation feature, only in firmware currently. It hasn't made it into brightauthor yet.  I'm attaching a plugin called rotateplus that allows you to test it out. I'm curious if anyone runs into problems using it.  When you add this plugin to brightauthor, under file, presentation properties, autorun, the plugin name you should use is "custom".

This plugin also has support for another new firmware feature, seek. It lets you seek to a position in a video, in milliseconds.

    Rotation:

You can rotate one video up to 1920x1080x60fps at a time. You can't rotate if you're scaling up to 4k.Rotation takes effect when the video playback starts.

You can send the rotate command either using the advanced command for sending plugin messages, or using udp. Since it supports plugin messages, you can technically attach the command to any file or any event in a brightauthor project.

rotate  !  r90 - rotates 90 degrees  (No spaces in actual command)

rotate!main!r90 - rotates the video zone named, main, 90 degrees

    norot - no rotation
    r90 - 90 degree clockwise rotation
    r180 - 180 degree rotation
    r270 - 270 degree clockwise (90 degree anticlockwise) rotation
    mirror - horizontal mirror
m90 - mirror and 90 degree clockwise rotation
m180 - mirror and 180 degree rotation (a vertical reflection)
    m270 - mirror and 270 degree rotation (a transpose).

    Seek:

    ----------

seek!5000 - Jumps to the 5000 millisecond position in the video.

Is the rotateplus.brs plugin compatible with the 4K1142 unit with 6.0.25.1 firmware? I'm just getting started with this and i'm looking to do the same thing. Rotate the input video image.

I also tried to solve this problem regarding an iPad and AV Adapter to a Display with 4k1142 and same Firmware.

@ BrightSign, is the rotate skript not compatible with 4k1142 and 6.0.51 ? Any other solutions to rotate my LiveVIdeo Input 90°?

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hello,

And what about if I want to show a Pc portrait signal into a portrait BS project?

Would the Live Input accept that resolution that will be 1080x1920?

    Best Regards

If you're using brightauthro 4.4., you can build a portrait presentation and the live video input will be rotated automatically.  So, you shouldn't need the plugin.  But, the plugin is compatible with all players that support video rotation, and should work with different brightauthor versions.
