XD1230 Audio garbled and out of syn with video.

The audio becomes garbled and looses syn with video after ~5-10 seconds of play. I've tried teh latest stable firmware and have the beta firmware installed with the same results. I've test the video feed "in" by plugging the HDMI directly into the TV. There is no know problem with the feed "in". The problem persists with any combination of HDMI, VGA out, and pass through. Here's a video of the presentation.

  What is the video source? Please send your brightauthor project file (*.bpf file).

  The source is a Sabrent HDMI,RCA, Composite S-video R/L Audio to 1080P HDMI Converter With power Adapter(DA-CPHD).

  FYI..I've tried to plug the HDMI directly from the cable box and it appears that the cable box shuts off the signal because of copyright protection. The video from the cable box will only run a few seconds.

  Try these tests:

  - Downgrade firmware on XD player to version 4.7.122

  - Update BrightAuthor software to version 3.8.0.27

  - Remove all zones except a zone with LiveVideo object

  - Downgrade firmware on XD player to version 4.7.122

  The option to downgrade to 4.7.122 is greyed out on BrightAuthor. I loaded the firmware via "select specific file" and get an error on the monitor stating "Firmware needs to be updgraded to 4.7.122 or greater." Screenshot attached.

  - Update BrightAuthor software to version 3.8.0.27

  Complete

  - Remove all zones except a zone with LiveVideo object

  TV video/audio is still out of sync. Only tested on Version 4.7.146 Beta Release.

  You downgraded the firmware to version 4.7.112, but you need version 4.7.122.

  The audio/video sync and sound quality problem still exists.

  Current configuration:

  • BrightAuthor 3.8.0.27
  • XD Player 4.7.122
  • Only one zone for live video on the presentation

  Have you tried matching the player's video mode to the live signal's frame rate?

  That would probably be 30fps or 29.97fps.

  The xd1230 works properly with this configuration: 
  HDMI in from Cable box without the Sabrent adapter 
  HDMI out to TV

  My issue now is that all my digital signage infrastructure is designed for VGA / analog out. It's there an adapter that you can recommend. Or how can we terminate the hdcp to use the xd1230 native VGA out.

  This is not possible due to security/licensing reasons. HDCP is only supported over HDMI.

  I cannot get the Live Video to work using a XD1230. I created a zone and placed the Live Video to the playlist. I checked that I am getting Video coming out of the HDMI Out port from the Cable box to a monitor's HDMI port. But when I go from the HDMI Out Port on the Cable box to the HDMI In Port on the XD1230 then HDMI Out to the TV and run my Presentation, the Video zone doesn't display although the other zones do. My BrightSign settings are XD1230, Boot Version 4.4.15, Firmware Version 4.7.151. Video Mode 1920x1080x60p. Any ideas?

  Have you tried other HDMI sources besides the cable box?

  You could also load BrightSign's demo presentation for live video.

  I just tried the Lbar Presentation and it only shows the bottom and side images but no Video. I went to the IP Address of the unit and look under "Video". The settings are Current Video Mode 1920x1080x60p but Current Input Mode shows n/a. I just hooked up a PC monitor with a HDMI cable coming out of the cable HDMI Out and it displays fine. It just will not work through the XD1230.

   Just for troubleshooting, you should try and feed the player with a different source of HDMI signal, such as from a second player. Your cable box may not play nicely with the 1230...

  The XD1230 may have a faulty HDMI input. Do you have a second 1230 to try on?

  I've found a solution to my problem.

  Problem solved by installing a HDMI to VGA adapter on the output of the XD1230. The adapter supports HDCP and the only issue is that the output is very low. I setup the analog out on the xd1230 for sound to resolve the problem.
  
  I am dissapointed that I have to purchase an adatper to add to the xd1230 in order to get VGA out to work with my system.

  The sound comes out of the analog out on the xd1230 into the PA system

  Nope, I am using HDMI. I just hooked a HDMI cable from a Google Chrome book OUT to the HDMI port of a PC monitor and the monitor works great. Disconnected from the monitor and connected to the HDMI In on the BrightSign and no Video on the TV in the Video Zone. Zone 1: Video or images: Playlist has a "Live Video" icon from the Media Library.

  RESOLVED. I was showing a fellow tech the issue and when I hooked up the PC monitor to the Cable box HDMI Out port I noticed a flicker. I started wiggling the cable at the end going into the cable box and the picture started going in and out. Just for grins, I swapped out the HDMI cable. Everything is working PERFECT. My first bad HDMI cable. I have had many bad Cat5 cables but never a bad HDMI cable. The bad cable must have had a short when it bent up toward the BrightSign but didn't when connected down to the PC monitor. Sorry for all the messages. I just assumed the HDMI cable was fine since it worked going to the PC monitor and never flickered before. Rookie mistake.
