We want to monitor the TVs/Screens/Displays which remotely connected with Brightsign.
Questions:
1) How can we monitor whether the TVs/Screens/Displays work or not?
We try the Snapshot function, and turn off of the display. The Snapshot is working normally.
However, we do want to know how the system can detect whether the output on screen is working or not.
Do you have the better advise "to install an IP based webcam pointing at the screen."
DO you want to know if the dispaly are off? Or not on the correct input? Do you have displays that support rs232 so you can get the display status over serial?

There are HD, XD, and XT models with serial ports. And, you can also use usb to serial as well. So, you can monitor display over serial. What monitoring are you looking to do?
Because, if your display supports some cec commands over HDMI, you can possibly query the display over hdmi. are you looking to see if the display is connected or on? You can do this via a plugin over hdmi. You can tell if the display is powered on.

what display is this, and do you know what cec commands it accepts for querying status? What do you want to do with the status information from the display? I have a plugin that checks the HDMI status, and can tell if the display is on or off. It doesn't actually use cec, but works using current state of the HDMI connection.

I've just ran a few test with a plugin which contains the screen status in both the FORM POST parameters and in the Headers (as per the below print screen)
