multiple sync'd players

I'm considering a project that would involve syncing 36 players.  I've had great success syncing two and three previously using UDP commands.  Soliciting ideas as I may not have the 36 necessary data ports on my switch/router to make this happen.  Looking for a possible off network solution.

Thoughts anyone?

    You can buy switches with more ports and you can link more switches together. If not ethernet, how did you envision linking the units together?

    Nuh-uh, I asked first.  --  Yes, buying additional switches is an obvious solution.  Seeking the less than obvious.
