Publish the same schedule to multipel groups in BrightAuthor

Hi,

I have 11 groups in BSN where I want to publish the same schedule to, but it appears that saving a schedule in BSN isn't possible?! I have no idea why but nevertheless, is there another way than to manually make the same schedule over and over again for every group?

Maybe I'm doing this the wrong way so here the setup:

I have 11 players connected to screens all over the city. Under normal circumstances they all show the same video. But sometimes it might be neccesairy to have one of them show something else.

So my plan was: primairy/main schedule from 7am to 7pm video A, from 7pm to 7am black PNG because screens need to be off (and I don't want them to actually shut down). That schedule I want to publish in every player (so 11 groups since players in the same group can't have different content).

If necessairy a certain player needs to have other content, so then I'd publish that presentation with end time 7 pm, so that after 7 pm, the primairy schedule takes over.

Thanks for your help.

Seems like 11 groups, makes content management tedious, and could lead to human error.

If normally all players show the same content, then it might be easier to manage, by having all players in a single group, and set up a second group for unusual events during which, the player with special content, would be moved from the main group, to the second group.

The statement "players in the same group can't have different content", is not accurate. Through use of BSN media feeds, and tagging, a single presentation published to a single group, allows players to show different content.

I cannot let my client move the players antoher grouop, that whould give him other persissions tha aren't of his concern. And the publisher role won't show players in the group tab. I tried creating a new role with the properties of publisher and added the permsiion 'view devices' but still the groups are empty.

Ok I got the permissions ok now, takes some trial and error to see what permission does what exactly. And yes I follow your idea about moving to different group instead of altering presentations.

Is there a way to move the players automatically to another group at a given time?

Probably via API, but that increases complexity which I would not recommend.

Have you explored the Live Media feeds' validity feature?

Also, which model are you using in this project?

I'm not familiar with the Live Media feeds.

I'm using LS423 in this project.

There are a few options for publishing the same presentation to multiple players and having different players have different content.

    1. Tagged playlists and player tagging (requires BrightSign Network)
Content membership in the tagged playlist will depend on how the player's tags fit into the tagging rules
    2. Local Playlists (requires BrightSign Network)
You can override a playlist for particular serial numbers
    3. Data Feed with player serial number included in query string (use a system variable)
The server can deliver different feed content based on the received serial number
    4. HTML/Javascript content
Checks the player serial number (use BSDeviceInfo to check deviceUniqueId)
